Performance Of EAC Protocols in Uganda
Members of the East Africa Legislative Assembly committee of Laws, Rules and Privileges chaired by Hon. Mukasa F. Mbidde came in to access the status of the axle load control act, ratification of protocols and implementation of East Africa Community laws at Ministry of East African Community in Uganda Main Boardroom. During the meeting, ministries of : Gender, Justice, UNRA, Works were represented respectively.
The EAC – Legislatures were informed that Uganda has ratified the ICT protocol and the protocol to operationalize the extended jurisdiction.
Background;
The EAC Axle Load Control Act was passed in 2016 and its main was to make provision for the control of vehicle loads, harmonized enforcement, institutional arrangements for the Regional Trunk Road Network within the Community and to provide for other related matters. it was then enacted by the East African Community and assented to by the Heads of State.
