New EAC Secretary General and Council Chairperson Chart Course for Regional Integration

On 13 May 2026, the Secretary General of the East African Community, Ambassador Stephen Patrick Mbundi of Tanzania, paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the EAC Council of Ministers, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.

Senior government officials led by Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs(MEACA), on April 30 travelled to Sironko District  to mark the annual East African Community Week, bringing a detailed account of the bloc's achievements, with calls for deeper awareness and participation in regional integration processes across East Africa.

EAC Secretary General urges EAHRC to provide innovative healthcare solutions for the region

The East African Community Secretary General, Hon (Dr.) Peter Mathuki has urged the East African Health Research Commission (EAHRC) to provide the people of East Africa with innovative solutions to the various challenges facing the health sector in the region and in particular a joint regional response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

EAC Secretary General pays courtesy call on President Salva Kiir Mayardit

The Secretary General of the East African Community, Hon (Dr.) Peter Mathuki paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of South Sudan, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit at his office in Juba, South Sudan. 

During the visit, the Secretary General thanked the President and other members of the EAC Summit for his appointment as the sixth Secretary General of the East African Community.

Twenty-young-lecturers-benefit-from-China-EASTRIP-TVET-Scholarship-Programme

Twenty young lecturers from Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania Regional Flagship TVET Institutes (RFTIs) supported by the World Bank East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) have been awarded scholarships to upgrade their qualification in Science and Technology to support advancement of Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in East Africa.

EAC-Coffee-Business-Forum-kicks-off-in-Mombasa

The East African Community Coffee Business Forum kicked off in Mombasa, Kenya with high level speakers from public and private sector exchanging and seeking to learn from each other as well as find new markets and seal international sales opportunities.

The forum organised by EAC jointly with the African Fine Coffee Conference and Exhibition and financed by the European Union through the MARKUP Programme will feature a week of interactive discussions, workshops and networking events.
