DR CONGO JOINS EAC

The East African Council of Ministers approved the Democratic Republic of Congo’s application to join the EastAfricanCommunity (EAC).
Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs Rebecca Kadaga disclosed this at a press conference held at her office.
Kadaga said the Council, sitting for its 44th Extra-ordinary meeting decided that DRC had satisfied all the required criteria to be admitted to the EAC.
She stated it was an historical decision to recommend the Heads of State grant admission of the Democratic Republic of Congo to the East African Community .
DRC will become a member of the EAC next year 2022.
While updating on other East African Community Affairs she revealed that it was agreed on that movement between Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan is now visa free, which will enable a smooth movement.
She further said that Pensioner of the East African Community documents had been identified and will soon be paid as more communication will decimated through the media.
On the issue of the E-Passport the East African Community put up a deadline of November 2022 for at least ever member state to have fully be in the system but Uganda will systematic be ready by April 2022.
For a smooth communication it was suggested that the EAC runs with at least three languages English, Swahili adding on French.
The EAC continues its observance of human rights and social justice, potential contribution to the strengthening of integration within East Africa, democracy and the rule of law, and adherence to universally acceptable principles.
