Uganda Bids For East African Community Monetary Institute (EAMI)

In a bid for the Republic of Ugandan  to host the East African Community Monetary Institute (EAMI), the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of  East Africa Community Affairs in Uganda Rt Hon|Dr. Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga -MP addressed members of the verification committee on the East African Community monetary institute.

The emeritus of the 9th and 10th Parliament of Uganda assured the Committee that much as its important for Uganda to host the EAMI, we are still committed to the East African Community.

She said “As a committee, you have a very important task of validating the bids that were submitted and confirming them objectively.” By press time, this is the third partner state that the verification committee has visited after Kenya and Republic of Burundi.

In attendance of the EAMI Committee briefing, was the Permanent Secretary Ministry of East African Community Affairs in Uganda Mrs. Mwanje. N. Edith, The Director at the Ministry of East African Community Affairs in Uganda and other Commissioners were  also present.

When the committee is done with its tour of duty to validate all EAC Partner states, The Council is expected to guide the Summit to make a decision on the suitable host for the East African Monetary Institute based on  assessment done by the committee.

The Rt. Hon Minister therefore urged the Committee do its work as sons and daughters of East Africa so that the Council is guided accordingly.
