The 54th Council of EAC Ministers Deliberates in Nairobi

During the 45^th meeting, the East African Community Council of Ministers directed the secretariat to convene a dedicated council session by 30^th August 2024. Upon the EAC Secretariat receiving this directive, a three-day sitting of the 54^th Extra Ordinary Council was organized and started on 27^th -29/ August/24 at Windsor Hotel, Nairobi Kenya. Sessions began with the convening of the Coordination Committee.

According to the program this morning in a room filled with a representation of ministers, permanent secretaries, and technical officers from different MDAs in the East African Community, the 1DPM/Minister for EAC Uganda, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga called the meeting to order. Deliberations began on finalizing the previous day’s unfinished business on the report from the coordination committee and also concluded the deliberations of the Zanzibar  Retreat of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and East African  Community Affairs held in Zanzibar in July  2024—the Minister for Internal Affairs, Uganda, Maj. Gen Kahinda Otafire was among the delegation of ministers that attended the 54^th Extra Ordinary Council of Ministers.
