This morning, at the invitation of the Secretary General of the East African Community Secretariat, the Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga fulfilled her duties outlined in the East African Community Act of 2002 by attending the 56th Extraordinary Council of East African Community Ministers. The meeting, which was conducted virtually to ensure inclusivity and participation despite geographical challenges, was convened specifically to engage in a detailed discussion regarding the financial status of the East African Community. The gathering aimed to address fiscal concerns, evaluate current financial strategies, and explore potential avenues for improving the community’s economic resilience and sustainability.

Partner states with arrears committed to paying their dates with deadlines, along with those that have been remitting their payments on time, assured the Chair of the Council that they would complete their quarterly contributions to the EAC Secretariat by the earliest of April.
In this virtual meeting, the minister was accomplished by two senior officers of the MEACA Uganda.
