South Sudan Impounded Vehicles
Between 15th May 2023 to date, the South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) has been impounding trucks loaded with Maize flour, Wheat flour, Sorghum and other grain products on allegations of failing to pass the test for contamination with aflatoxin.
At the border level, we (the Ministry of EAC -UG) have been trying to engage the standards authorities for an amicable solution. The assurance that the matter would be solved in the shortest time possible has not materialised as more trucks with similar products are being impounded.
The 1stDPM|Minister for EAC -UG Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga (MP) is still engaging her counterpart in South South Sudan to speed up the process of unrest by the truck drivers/transporters.
