REGIONAL INTEGRATION AND UGANDA’S TRADE PERFORMANCE
The Treaty that established the East African Community (EAC) in 2000 paved the way for the Customs Union Protocol (which entered into force in 2005) as well as the implementation of the Single Customs Territory (which commenced in July 2014).
However, there have been concerns about the beneficial effects of the East African Community (EAC) on Uganda’s trade performance hence the need to ascertain the impact of the regional integration process and the challenges that remain.
