On 7th and 8th July 2026, the Ministry of East African Community Affairs (MEACA), through its Department of Political Affairs, conducted a stakeholder engagement at Oraba Border Post in Koboko District.

The engagement aimed to introduce the East African Community (EAC) Transboundary Security Framework to key border stakeholders, facilitate the sharing of experiences on border operations, document challenges affecting cross-border management, and generate practical recommendations to address the identified issues.

The engagement brought together representatives from border management agencies, local government, security institutions, and community stakeholders, providing a platform for dialogue and collaboration on strengthening border governance and regional security.

The meeting concluded with several key action points for implementation by the relevant stakeholders:

* Establish a Joint Cross-Border Management Committee to strengthen coordination among border agencies and stakeholders.

* Utilize Government Airtime through the Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) to enhance public awareness of the East African Community and its integration agenda.

* Conduct continuous joint community engagements on border management processes, procedures, and the mandates of border agencies.

* The Ministry of East African Community Affairs should regularly conduct cross-border stakeholder engagements to promote awareness of EAC policies and foster compliance with regional frameworks.

* Border agency leaders should continuously induct newly deployed staff on border management procedures, inter-agency coordination, and the implementation of EAC protocols to ensure effective service delivery.
