On 9th June 2026, Chairperson of the East African Community (EAC) Summit, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, met with EAC Secretary General Stephen Patrick Mbundi and his delegation at State House, Nakasero, to discuss key issues shaping the future of the Community.

The meeting focused on a range of priority areas, including trade, infrastructure development, staffing, health, financing, and regional integration. It provided an opportunity for both sides to review progress on regional programmes and explore ways to address emerging challenges affecting the Community.

During the discussions, President Museveni underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation among EAC Partner States and institutions to accelerate the implementation of programmes aimed at advancing economic growth, regional connectivity, and improved livelihoods for East Africans.

As Chairperson of the EAC Summit, the President emphasized the need to fast-track initiatives that promote regional integration and shared prosperity, noting that stronger collaboration was essential to unlocking the region’s full potential.

The engagement reflected the continued commitment of EAC leadership to advancing the Community’s integration agenda and fostering a more prosperous, competitive, and interconnected East African region.
