MEACA to popularize the East African Community Integration

The Ministry of East African Community Affairs Uganda – MEACA embarked on an exercise to popularize the East African Community Integration as its guided by the treaty under Article 65.

In a an interaction session from Honorable Members of Parliament of Uganda on the Committee of East Africa who raised a matter of delayed payment of pension to former employees of EAC, The Permanent Secretary for Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Uganda Mrs. Edith Mwanje assured Members of Parliament that payment of the claimants started in 2000 when the inter-Ministerial committee was put in place.

She, however, said that the hardest bit of the exercise was determining the genuine claimants. While delivering a speech for the 1stDPM|Minister for East African Community Affairs Uganda Dr| Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga -MP, who is in Egypt on official duty.

The Minister of State for Regional Affairs Hon. John Mulimba urged MPs to prioritise issues of integration like customs Union, Common Market Protocol, monetary Union and Political Freedom.
