Strategize Security of Africa Through Political Integration – Museveni

President Museveni undertook a State visit to the Republic of Kenya from 15th -17th, May 2024 at the invitation of President William Samoei Ruto. President Museveni was accompanied by Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga (MP), 1DPM/Minister of EAC Uganda, Cabinet Ministers of different ministries from Uganda, and other Senior government officials.

It was this morning that the two Presidents H.E Ruto and H.E Museveni engaged in a High-Level bilateral discussion in Nairobi on this day 16th May 2024. The discussions focused on bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues of mutual interest. These discussions were held in a friendly atmosphere, during which, the two Presidents recalled the deep historical bonds of friendship. The two Heads of State reaffirmed their commitment to continue developing bilateral cooperation, including transport, and infrastructure, trade and investment, immigration, regional integration, peace and security, and the fight against terrorism among others. The two Heads of State therefore welcomed the signing of the following instruments of Cooperation namely:

  1. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Foreign Service Affairs
  2. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on Public Service Management and Development.
  3. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Youth Affairs
  4. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the field of Sports
  5. Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Education. Training Scientific Research
  6. Tripartite Agreement about importation and Transit of refined Petroleum products through Kenya to Uganda by National Oil Company Limited.
  7. Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Gender and Women Empowerment.

In conclusion. Their Excellences further directed that the Parties continue to work together on the Standard Gauge Railway and that they should conclude the common matters by December 2024.
