End Early Girl Child Marriages – Kadaga
Kamuli district celebrated her International Women’s Day at Buwala primary school in Wankole sub-county on a highly attended event that saw people who came from near and far from Kamuli district.
The Woman Member of Parliament of Uganda for Kamuli district Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga-MP arrived at 11:00 am and was welcomed by cheers and entertained from cultural dancers that were waiting for their “beloved maama”
The 1stDPM|Minister for Ministry of East African Community Affairs Uganda – MEACA shortly welcomed the chief guest of the day H.E Jessica Rose Epel Alupo.
Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga (MP) addressed the gathering and focused more on the end of early girl child marriage and pregnancies. The 2nd Vice Chairperson of National Resistance Movement – NRM Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga called on the women in Kamuli district to work hand in hand with their spouses to end the vice that seems to decay the growth and development of the girl child.
The Vice President of Uganda H.E Jessica Rose Alupo congratulated the women in Kamuli district for having made a wise choice of leader to represent the district in Parliament of Uganda. She encouraged the women to put more emphasis on Parish development programs such that they can improve their house hold income.
In support of the women’s projects in Kamuli district, H.E Rtd. Maj Jessica Alupo made a contribution of Shs.30m. the day ended with the awarding of certificates to development partners of Kamuli District i.e., Plan International among others.
