East African Presidents Attend High Level Side Event for EAC AT 25 Anniversary.

On a sunlit November afternoon in the bustling town of Arusha, an air of excitement permeated the atmosphere as leaders, diplomats, and citizens gathered to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the East African Community (EAC). The high-level side event was set against the majestic backdrop of Mount Meru, symbolizing the unity and strength of the member nations.

Dignitaries from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan arrived, and the event commenced with the EAC anthem, to signify unity in diversity.

The keynote address was delivered by the EAC Secretary-General, Hon. Veronica M. Nduva whose speech highlighted the monumental achievements and challenges overcome in the past quarter-century. she spoke passionately about the economic integration, infrastructural development, and social progress that the EAC had facilitated.

The highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring influential leaders and visionaries from the region. But before the panel was called in to take their seats to face the audience, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga (MP) was given the floor to contribute to the day’s topics. The 1DPM/Minister for EAC Uganda pulled up her sleeves and expressed dissatisfaction with the way other partner states are handling the issue of the East African Monetary Union Protocol that was adopted way back in 2013 to establish a single currency for the EAC Partner States within a decade. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, evoking a sense of pride and collective responsibility.

The panel then settled in and discussed the future of the EAC, emphasizing the importance of sustainable development, regional security, and youth empowerment. The conversation was vibrant, reflecting the dynamic spirit of East Africa and its commitment to continued collaboration and growth.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the gathering, The Presidents of Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya Tanzania, and Somalia made their majestic entrance to join other dignitaries and the presidents made presentations on different topics as directed to them by the moderator of the session meanwhile the republic of Burundi was represented by the Vice President however, in that moment, it was clear that the East African Community was not just an organization, but a living testament to the power of unity, resilience, and hope. As the event drew to a close, the participants left with renewed energy and optimism, ready to build on the foundation of the past 25 years and shape a brighter, more prosperous future for all East Africans.
