Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga (MP) was in the Republic of South Sudan and addressed a joint border evaluation meeting that consisted of Border Agencies on the Common Market Protocol between Uganda and the Republic of South Sudan. a meeting that was attended by both border officials and traders from both countries, there were loopholes that Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga-MP identified what needed to be addressed in the areas of infrastructure, management, and cross-border traders and travelers. in her closing remarks, the minister reiterated and urged the Republic of South Sudan to adhere to and implement the Customs Union as stipulated in the treaty.

WHEN?
On 5th September 2016, the Republic of South Sudan became a full member of the East African Community as a sixth state, and on 5th April 2016, the Republic of South Sudan acceded to the treaty.
