Gender Inequalities Must Be Addressed- EASSI

This afternoon, women from the African Sub-regional Support Initiative for the Advancement of Women met with Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga discussed the East African Community FGM Bill yet to be assented to at the East African Legislative Assembly. The Eastern African Sub-Regional Support Initiative for Advancement of Women (EASSI) is a sub-regional civil society organization is made up of committed individuals and networks driven to transform gender relations globally, especially in the Eastern African sub-region.

Mrs. Ashemeirwe Patience and Mrs. Aemo Mary informed the 1DPM/Minister for EAC Uganda that EASSI is implementing a power of Youth program in Uganda to empower adolescent girls and young women to increase their Agency, claim their rights, address gender inequalities, challenge gender norms and advocate for inclusive in decision making at all levels.
